FAQ

See some common questions and answers below, or call us at 01905 975 264.

  • Is the stairlift attached to the stairs or the wall?

All of our domestic stairlifts are attached to the thread of the stairs, not the wall.

  • Do they work on narrow staircases?

Our stairlifts are equipped with a slim rail and compact carriage. Practical for you and other family members, our stairlifts have folding arms, footrest and seat that can be neatly tucked away when not in use. One of our expert engineers will be able to advise on specifically designed stairlifts to suit your needs.

  • Can stairlifts travel round bends in stairs?

Our bespoke curved stairlifts are innovatively designed to negotiate turns, bends, landings and corridors with ease as they are manufacturers to suit your individual staircase perfectly.

  • Are stairlifts operated by battery or power supply?

Our stairlifts are battery operated. We install an outlet at the bottom or top of your stairs to keep it charged.

  • Can I choose my stairlift colours?

Yes, each of our models comes with a variety of extra features so you can choose a stairlift to suit your home.

  • Are stairlifts expensive to run?

A Stannah stairlift, on average, costs as little as £7.26 to run per year.

  • Where are you based and where do you cover?

Droitwich Stairlifts are based in Droitwich and cover Worcestershire and across Birmingham, Kidderminster, Evesham, Dudley, Worcester and beyond.

  • What happens to my stairlift in a power cut?

As your stairlift will be battery operated it will work for a number of journeys (roughly 8 depending on various factors).

  • How do I recharge my stairlift batteries?

All Stannah straight stairlifts benefit from continuous charge. Curved rail stairlifts have charge points on the rail.

  • How long will my stairlift battery last?

Your battery can last anywhere between 2 to 5 years depending on usage.

  • Do stairlifts make noise?

Stairlifts are very quiet due to their battery powered motor. Stannah stairlifts, in particular, offer an extremely smooth ride therefore make very little noise.

  • Are stairlifts easy to operate?

Our stairlifts have a range of features and extras so that all users feel comfortable during their transition.

  • How fast does a stairlift travel?

Our stairlifts travel at 0.1 metre per second.

An average straight UK staircase would take 41.1 seconds in one direction.
